Abstract Airports, both regional and international, have an important role in regional development. The presence of functioning and well-connected airports is part of an essential infrastructure that offers a “window on the world” for individual regions and a physical connection to the global flow of people and goods. Airports with good connections to other airports can be a development factor since they bring a specific region closer to potential investors and companies and bring considerable tourist potential to a region.
